TROY, Ala - The Troy volleyball team fell in two matches this past weekend against Arkansas State and the University of Arkansas- Little Rock.
Troy (12-12) began their weekend play against Arkansas State (8-13) on Friday, October 12th. The Trojans hoped to bounce back after a loss last season, but was unable to fight for the win. The Indians defeated Troy in a three game match with scores of 27-30, 26-30, and 23-30.
Junior Aubre Smith, led the Trojans in kills with 12, followed by Junior Jean McCarthy who recorded 10 kills, but was not enough to top the Indians.
Following Friday's game against Arkansas State, Troy competed against the University of Arkansas-Little Rock (14-7) on Saturday, October 13th.
After a loss to UALR last season Troy prepared to dominate and take the win against the UALR Trojans. However, UALR defeated Troy in a three game match with score of 28-30, 30-32, and 16-30.
Sophomore Meghan Gilroy took the lead in kills' recording 11 for the Trojans, but was not enough to take the win.
The Trojans will be back in action on Friday October 19th, as they compete against North Texas at 7:00 p.m. in Trojan Arena. After last season loss Troy plans to bounce back and take the win to increase their conference record and overall record.
Following Fridays match, Troy will face Denver at 6:00 p.m.
