Troy Prepares for Holiday Inn Express Labor Day Classic

TROY, Ala. - The Troy University volleyball team has spent this week preparing for the Holiday Inn Express Labor Day Classic, its second tournament of the 2006 season.
This weekend's Holiday Inn Express Labor Day Classic will be a round-robin tournament with each school playing three matches. Schools participating in the two-day event are Memphis, UT-Martin and Alcorn State.
The Trojans (0-3) are hoping they can learn from last weekend's Hampton Inn Spiketacular. Troy fell to St. Mary's, North Florida and Tulsa, respectively but did not go down without a fight.
We feel with last week's tournament we have prepared ourselves to play the competition throughout the rest of the year. We feel very confident going into this weekend that we will have a better result,” head coach Sonny Kirkpatrick said.
The Holiday Inn Express Labor Day Classic will begin on Friday at 1 p.m. with Memphis taking on UT-Martin. Then at 4 p.m. the Trojans will take the court facing Alcorn State. Memphis and Alcorn State will face off at 7 p.m. to end play on Friday evening.
On Saturday, Troy will start the festivities at 9 a.m. when it takes on UT-Martin. The Trojans will then have a break when UT-Martin plays Alcorn State at 12 p.m. At 3 p.m. Troy will challenge Memphis to end the Holiday Inn Express Labor Day Classic.
Live stats will be available for all tournament matches. Admission to all home volleyball matches is free.
