LUBBOCK, Texas -- Troy University junior shortstop Tom King has been named to the College Baseball Foundation All America Team for 2006.
The College Baseball Foundation is dedicated to preserving college baseball history and to recognizing standout teams and individuals who have influenced the collegiate game.
Starting in February, the Foundation released a weekly National Honor Roll, saluting the finest performances from each week's action. King was named to the Honor Roll four times during the 2006 season. He joins 28 other players on the Foundation's All-America squad.
King leads the Trojans (45-14) with a .416 batting average this year. He is among the national leaders in runs (72), hits (111), RBI (72) and total bases (171) this season and leads all of college baseball with 34 doubles, just two shy of the NCAA single-season record.
King also set Sun Belt Conference records this year for single-season hitting streak (31 games) and consecutive at bats with a hit (nine, which he accomplished twice).
King will lead the Trojans into the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional this Friday where Troy will face Southern Mississippi at 2:30 p.m. Host Alabama will play Jacksonville State at 6:30 in the regional's other first round game.
