Pair of Trojans Receive Post-Draft Invites To Camp

TROY, Ala. -- Unlike in 2005 when Troy's Demarcus Ware had his named called by NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue in the first round after he was selected by the Dallas Cowboys, no Trojans were selected in the 2006 NFL Draft.
However, two of 2005's seniors have received invitations to attend mini-camp with NFL clubs starting next week.
Thomas Olmsted, a punter/kicker from Lake City, Fla., was signed to a free agent contract by the Miami Dolphins. Olmsted will compete with Donnie Jones, a two-year veteran from LSU, for the punting job with the Dolphins.
In addition to Olmsted, offensive lineman Zarah Yisrael, who broke the NFL combine record for 225-pound bench press with 48 reps on Troy's pro day, was invited to attend mini camp with his hometown Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Jaguars lost two offensive linemen to free agency and did not select a lineman during the recent NFL draft.
Several other former Trojans are weighing options for their future in football. Those options may include the Canadian Football League if invitations to NFL camps are received soon.
