For the second time this season a member of the Troy University baseball team has been selected the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week.
Trojans junior shortstop Tom King was selected on Tuesday for his play during the week of March 6-12.
King was also tabbed by the College Baseball Foundation as a member of its National Honor Roll for last week.
ULL sophomore pitcher Hunter Moody was selected as Pitcher of the Week by the Sun Belt after his complete game performance in a victory over nationally ranked Texas A&M.
For the second time in the first month of the season, King broke the old Sun Belt Conference record for consecutive at bats with a hit, when he posted nine straight hits over the course of the Trojans' weekend sweep of Memphis in Memphis.
During the streak, King had four doubles, scored five times and drove in seven runs. The streak ended in King's final at bat on Sunday when his line drive down the third base line was snared on a diving grab by the Tigers' former All-SEC third baseman (Tennessee) Kyle Norrid.
For the week, King batted .565 (13-for-23) with five doubles, nine RBI and 10 runs scored while also making several spectacular plays at third base. King, who also had hits in nine straight at bats against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on the opening weekend of the season, leads the Trojans with a .468 batting average and has 37 hits through 16 games.
King joins infield mate Edgar Ramierz, who was named player of the week for the opening weekend of the season when he tied a Sun Belt record with nine RBI in a game and drove in 12 runs in a double header sweep of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
The Trojans return to action tonight at 6 p.m. at Riddle-Pace Field against Georgia Southern. Troy enters the two-game series riding a seven-game win streak.
