Owls Overcome Trojans in Four

Boca Raton, Fla. - The Troy University volleyball team for the second day in a row won the first game of the match, 31-29 but was unable to take the match falling to Florida Atlantic by scores of 31-16, 30-18 and 30-27.
Sophomore Jean McCarthy led the Trojans in kills with 15 as sophomore Aubre Smith added assistance offensively with 14 of her own.
Smith ended the match with the highest attack percentage for the Trojans (9-24, 3-14 SBC) .379 while McCarthy only had a hitting percentage of .163 she also notched four service aces in the match.
As a team Troy had 53 kills and ten service aces compared to FAU (11-17, 7-10) who recorded 51 kills and nine service aces.
Krystena Castro had 16 kills for a .278 hitting percentage and Justine Petry notched 14 for a .462 hitting percentage to lead FAU in the match.
Although the Trojans won the first game of the match, Troy only had a hitting percentage of .024. Then in games two and three Troy could not get any momentum going posting hitting percentages of .000 and .079 respectively.
In the fourth game, Troy caught fire and tried to stage a comeback posting 18 kills and a hitting percentage of .227 but it was not enough as the Owls pulled out the important points in the end.
