Troy Unable to Top UALR on Saturday

TROY, Ala. - Sophomore Jean McCarthy notched 13 kills for Troy against Arkansas-Little Rock but it was not enough as Troy fell by scores of 30-23, 30-25 and 30-17.
McCarthy had an attack percentage of .226 as she was the only Trojan to record double digit kills.
As a team, Troy (8-18, 2-8 SBC) had 45 kills only 10 less than UALR (11-15, 4-5 SBC) and an attack percentage of .203 compared to UALR's .352 hitting percentage.
Sophomore Meghan Washlow had 38 assists, three digs and one block to help Troy on all sides.
Amila Barakovic led UALR with 17 kills for a .421 hitting percentage. The Trojans also saw assistance from Anita Bucur with 14 kills with a .414 hitting percentage and Ivanka Davidova with 12 kills for a .667 attack percentage.
The two teams traded points to begin game one before UALR pulled ahead 17-15. Then Troy gained the momentum and took the lead, 20-18 but could not hold on as UALR regained the lead 26-22.
Troy lead 8-4 to begin game two and continued to lead throughout the game, 12-8 before UALR battled back to tie the game at 16. Then UALR took the lead 25-23 and never looked back.
Troy never regained its momentum as UALR took a big lead early, 15-8. Troy fought back to close the lead but it was not enough as UALR led late, 27-16.
The Trojans will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 20 at 12 p.m. when it travels to Denton, Texas to play North Texas. Then on Sunday, Oct. 22 the Trojans will face Denver at 12 p.m. in Denver, Colo.
