Bethany fills a big need for us right now,” said Nicholas. We did not have much depth at middle blocker last year, so we expect her to display the talents needed for us to compete in the Sun Belt Conference We are excited to have her in our program.”
Andre was a three-sport athlete at Kelseyville High School, earning second-team all-county honors as a junior and senior. She led the team in blocks and kills and won the Most Spirited Award following her senior season. In 2002, the Indians won the North Coast Sectional Championship.
As a club player, she helped the Under-18 Empire Volleyball Club to an 18-1 record and a second-place finish at the Volleyball Festival in Reno, Nev.
Andre served as student body treasurer for four years and also the treasurer for Rotary Interact. She was a member of K-CORPS' Squad 3, while also being active in community groups AWANAS and JSA. Following graduation from Kelseyville, she attended West Point Military Academy Prep School for a semester before returning home to California.
Her sister, Kristen, is a three-year letterwinner at Tennessee, earning All-Southeastern Conference and honorable mention All-America honors last season. The Volunteers posted a 32-3 record and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
Troy begins its first season of Sun Belt Conference play this year when it hosts North Florida on Aug. 26 in the Trojan Spiketacular.
