Trojans and North Texas To Tangle On National Television

The game will kickoff at 6:30 p.m. (CT) in Denton, Texas.
That is going to be the premier game in our league after the two teams finished first and second in the standings last year,” Trojans coach Larry Blakeney said. It will be our opening game in Sun Belt play this fall and will give us a little more time to prepare for a team that has dominated this conference.”
In order to make the move to Tuesday night for the game with North Texas, the Troy home game with Florida International, originally scheduled for October 8, will be moved to October 22.
Troy made two national television appearances last year, against Missouri at Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium and in the Silicon Valley Football Classic against Northern Illinois in San Jose, Calif.
Another change in the Troy home schedule will take place with regard to the final game of the season against Middle Tennessee. That game was originally scheduled for November 19, but will be moved to the weekend following Thanksgiving to allow for a change in the Blue Raiders schedule.
The date for the Battle for the Palladium” game between Troy and Middle Tennessee is tentatively set for Saturday, November 26, but the game may be played on the Friday after Thanksgiving, or on Monday or Tuesday of the following week to allow for television.
Any time you get a chance to play on national television, it is a positive thing,” Blakeney said. That is a big rivalry game for us and it is important that we have a big crowd at Movie Gallery Stadium for the game.
Moving the Middle Tennessee game off the date of the Auburn-Alabama game will allow our fans with an interest in that game to see both, and will allow fans of those schools with an interest in Troy to come see the Trojans play.”
Game times and television information on the remainder of the 2005 Troy football schedule will be announced at a later date.
