TROY, Ala. - The Atlantic Sun's women's basketball coaches have selected Troy University sophomore Laura Lee Holman to the All-A-Sun second team. For the second-straight year, Troy has had the conference's top freshman player, as the coaches named Amy Lewis as the A-Sun's Freshman of the Year.
Holman, a native of Columbus, Miss., led the Trojans in scoring with 13.3 points per game. She is the Trojans' leading three-point shooter, connecting 54 times from behind the arc this season. Holman was selected as the A-Sun Player of the Week on Jan. 24 following a week that included a career-high 37-point game at Gardner-Webb.
Lewis averaged 12.8 points per game, second for the Trojans and 13th in the league. The guard from Hamilton, Victoria, Australia, averaged nearly 35 minutes per game to lead Troy. Lewis shot 46.3 percent from the floor, including 36.6 percent from three-point range. Lewis succeeds one of her teammates as the league's top freshman, as Holman earned the honor last season.
Troy will enter the A-Sun Tournament on Thursday as the No. 2 seed. The Trojans will face Florida Atlantic in the first round on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Dothan Civic Center.
