Assistant Volleyball Coach Cheryl Briddell

Cheryl Briddell, a native of Maryville, Ill., is beginning her first season as the assistant coach at Troy. Before joining the Trojans, Briddell spent two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at St. Ambrose University, an NAIA school in Davenport, Iowa.
While at St. Ambrose, Briddell was in charge of all off-season conditioning and practices. In 2003, she helped lead the Bees to a third-place finish in the Midwest Classic Conference Tournament.
Briddell also served as camp director for high school and junior high volleyball camps held at St. Ambrose. She led three multi-week National Youth Sports Programs clinics for inner-city youth and organized and ran 21 evening volleyball skills clinics.
Briddell entered her coaching career with three years of Division I volleyball experience under her belt. She began her playing career at Troy University in 1998. She earned a place as a starter as a defensive specialist.
In 1999 she transferred from Troy to Lake Land College, a junior college in Mattoon, Ill.
She was a second team NJCAA All-Region selection at Lake Land. In her season there she led the Lakers in service aces and helped the team achieve a school-record 35 victories.
After earning her associate's degree in arts from Lake Land, Briddell went on to play at Oakland University in Rochester, Mich. She started at defensive specialist in both her junior and senior seasons for the Golden Grizzlies. She received the scholar athlete award in 2000 and 2002.
Briddell earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Oakland University in 2002, and earned an M.B.A. from St. Ambrose University in 2004.
