Graduate Assistant Jodi Otten

After a successful playing career and coaching career on the high school level Jodi Otten comes to Troy to serve as a graduate assistant to Coach Melanie Davis' staff.
Otten began her collegiate career at Central Arizona Community College. In her freshman year Central Arizona won the National Junior College Athletic Association's National Championship.
In her sophomore campaign Central Arizona were the runners-up to the national champions. Otten earned all-conference honors as well as being named Most Valuable Player for her region. She was also named to the all-tournament team for the national tournament and was named a NJCAA All-American.
Otten went on the play for Coach Cathy Compton at Louisiana State University where she continued to impress.
In 1997 she was named the Louisiana Newcomer of the Year while helping lead LSU to the Southeastern Conference Championhip. That season she started every game for the Tigers batting .341 for the season.
In 1998 Otten was named the Louisiana State Player of the Year, All-SEC, All-tournament for the SEC tournament, and All-tournament for the NCAA Regionals. She also earned NCAA All-American status while starting every game and batting .389 for the season.
In 1999 she stayed on at LSU as a volunteer assistant coach helping the Tigers to a record of 56 wins, ten losses, and a birth in the NCAA's.
Otten then took over the reigns as head coach at Bishop Sullivan High School in Baton Rouge, La. In 2001 she became the head coach of Plaquemine High School in Plaqueming, La. before going on to coach the 18-Under Arizona Hotshots Gold.
In 2004 she earned a spot on the Arizona Heat of the National Professional Fastpitch League. Otten also played for the Carolina Diamonds, Durham Dragons, and Ohio Pride.
Otten is the daughter of Jill and Jim Otten. She has one brother, Jimmy, and three dogs, Buster, Lucy, and Majerle.
