TROY, Ala. - For the second time this week, the Troy University football staff has added to the Trojans 2005 signing class, this time with a junior college quarterback from California.
Larry Dockery, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound passer from Compton, Calif., played his freshman season at Los Angeles-Pierce College and then played last year at Moorpark College in Oxnard, Calif.
In 2004, Dockery led Moorpark to a 7-4 record that included a victory in the U.S. Bank Beach Bowl. He threw for 2,105 yards on the season, completing 128 of 291 pass attempts. He had 18 touchdown passes and 14 interceptions.
As a freshman at Pierce College Dockery completed 161 of 303 pass attempts for 2,164 yards and 12 touchdowns to go with 12 interceptions. He was an honorable mention All-Conference pick in the Western State Conference.
"I have never been to Troy, but I saw the team play in the bowl game out here and liked what I saw," Dockery said. "I am looking forward to getting there this summer. I am very determined to prove myself at the Division I level and I am ready for the challenge."
Dockery, who played his prep ball at Lynwood High School, is the son of Ricky and Renee Logan and he has one brother, Ricky, Jr. (12).
The Trojans have now signed 29 players since the start of the signing period.
