Assistant Coach Norman Weidle

Norman Weidle is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Troy tennis program.
Weidle comes to Troy after competing for Valdosta State University. In 2004, Weidle helped VSU reach the NCAA Division II finals, and they finished with a No. 2 national ranking.
For the past seven years, Weidle has competed in German League Tennis, playing for BASF Ludwigshafen, Ski-Club Ettlingen and KETV Karlshruhe in the top German competitive league.
Before going to Valdosta State, Weidle worked as a coach in Europe. In 2003 he served as the head coach at TC Ettlingen Tennis Club in his native Germany. In 2002, he worked at Rod Frawly's tennis camp in Spain, serving as an instructor and tournament director.
From 2001-02 he coached Sandra Kloesel, who earned a No. 107 WTA ranking and advanced to the third round of the U.S. Open.
Weidle trained at the Tennis Center in Leimen, Germany from 1988-95, the same facility where Boris Becker and Steffi Graf started their careers. In 1988, Weidle competed against Becker in an exhibition match in Stuttgart, Germany.
Weidle earned many awards as a junior tennis player in Germany, reaching a No. 2 national ranking. In 1990 he finished as the national doubles champion and as the south national champion.
Weidle earned a bachelor's degree in marketing from Valdosta State University in 2004.
