"Megan played great for us tonight," interim head coach Michael Izumi said.
"Her digs, sets and receptions were all excellent tonight."
The Jaguars avenged the Trojan 5-game victory back on September 23 when the teams tangled in Mobile. Troy dropped the first two in that game then went on to win the next three.
South Alabama outhit the Trojans in game one .341 to .245. Leading scores for the Trojans were sophomore outside hitter Eliza Zwettler, (Madison, Wis) with seven and freshman right-side hitter Aubre Smith, (Aliquippa, Pa.) also with seven.
Troy was outhit again in the second game, however, with three service aces from Smith and with Zwettler's six kills and five digs, the Trojans pulled ahead late in the affair to win 30-26.
Any momentum the Trojans hoped to ride to victory quickly evaporated as its offense was non-existent and were outhit as a team .051 to .269. Troy's defense also went into hiding as the Trojans could muster only eight digs to the Jags' 17.
"Our tips fell short and gave USA every advantage it needed to score," Izumi said.
Game four was a closer contest between the teams until South Alabama middle blocker Whitney Sanders knocked down four balls to propel the Jaguars to victory.
In the final game of the night, the Trojans offense was woeful once more as the team produced a .115 attack average compared to the Jags' .450.
"Tonight was a night where nothing went right for us," Izumi said.
Troy departs Saturday for the state of Kentucky to play the conference leading Western Kentucky (26-2, 10-0) Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
