Freshman outside hitter Aubre Smith (Aliquippa, Pa.) recorded 10 kills in the match for Troy with sophomore outside hitter Eliza Zwettler (Madison, Wis.) contributing 9.
Zwettler and sophomore libero Bridget Reidy (St. Charles, Mo.) recorded 14 digs a piece in the effort.
"Our gameplan tonight changed with the size of UALR's middle blocker Ivanka Davidova at 6-6. Her presence forced us to alter our hitting which UALR took advatage of," interim head coach Michael Izumi said.
"UALR did everything right tonight to counter every good move we made," Izumi said.
The Trojans from Little Rock took the lead early in game one and never looked back defeating Troy 19-30.
Troy began game two by keeping its intensity at a high level and keeping the score close with Trojans before UALR recorded the game point when the Troy serve went long.
"I was extremely proud by the way our team kept balls in play. Our defense was giving us every opportunity to score," Izumi said.
"There were plays out on the court tonight that are defense made which I haven't seen in a while. That hustle on defense goes back to keeping our intensity and momentum at a high level which we have worked on in practice."
UALR will take on the South Alabama Jaguars Saturday afternoon, while Troy will return to Trojan Arena Sunday at 1 p.m. for a conference match with Arkansas State.
"We're not far behind the teams in our conference. The girls know they can play with anybody," Izumi said.
"Our goal now is to figure out where the next step is so we can avoid dropping these tight matches."
At every Sunday home volleyball match this season, Sonic Restaurants will hand out free slushes to the first 50 fans.
Admission to home Trojan volleyball matches is free.
