Trojans Baseball To Host Ontario Blue Jays In Exhibition Play

TROY, Ala. - Troy University baseball fans have a great opportunity to get an early look at the 2006 Trojans on Sunday afternoon, October 23.
The Trojans will place an exhibition game against the Ontario Blue Jays, an 18-and under all-star team from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. The team is on an extended tour of the southeastern United States en route to an 18-under wood bat tournament in Florida.
The squad recently played against Duquesne University, a Division I program in Pennsylvania, and defeated the Dukes 5-1.
The exhibition on Sunday will start at 4 p.m. and will give Troy baseball fans a chance to get their first look at many of the 23 first-year players on the roster.
Coach Bobby Pierce returns only 13 letter winners from last springs' Atlantic Sun Conference championship squad. The Trojans finished the 2005 season with a 37-21 record, including a 21-5 mark in league play. Troy will join the Sun Belt Conference for baseball this spring and has 26 home dates on the 2006 schedule.
The Trojans opened fall baseball practice on October 2 and will continue with drills at Riddle-Pace Field daily through the end of the month.
Admission to the exhibition on Sunday is free.
