TROY, Ala. - The Trojan Volleyball team will open up the 2004 Atlantic Sun Conference season by traveling to Nashville, Tenn., to take on the Bruins of Belmont.
The Trojans will then play away conference matches at Central Florida and Florida Atlantic. TROY's first home game will be against conference foe Jacksonville on October 8th.
TROY and Gardner-Webb have already faced each other this season at the BSC Volleyball Challenge, but it did not count as a conference match.
The Trojans of TROY University and the Bruins of Belmont will meet for the sixth time overall since TROY moved to Division I in 1993.
Belmont won the first two matches against TROY but the Trojans have won the last four meetings between the schools.
The last time these teams met was October 24th of 2003 at TROY. The Trojans took a 3-0 victory which was part of a four-match win streak for TROY.
In the match the Trojans were led by Rachel Hassan and Haven Triboulet. Hassan recorded 15 kills while Triboulet added ten kills of her own. Current Trojans Kendra Sytsma had 11 kills and Holly Martin had seven kills.
Martin led the Trojans defensively with 16 digs and one and a half blocks, while Megan Smart tallied 10 digs.
