Trojan Volleyball opens the 2004 season with a loss to rival Jacksonville State

TROY, Ala. - The Trojan Volleyball team opened up the 2004 season with a 3-0 defeat to intra-state rival Jacksonville State.
TROY finished the night with 20 kills, 12 assists, and 18 digs. Junior Holly Martin paced the Trojans on offense with eight kills against the Gamecocks. Jean McCarthy was second on the night with four kills of her own.
Jacksonville State doubled TROY's kill total in three games finishing the night with 40 kills, 31 assists, and 33 digs. Jax. State was led on offense by freshman Abby Breit who finished the night with nine kills. Sophomore Shari Weyer was close behind teammate Breit with eight kills on the evening.
TROY heads down to New Orleans this weekend for the University of New Orleans/Wyndham Hotels Invitational Tournament. TROY will open up the tournament on Friday with Southeastern Louisiana and host team UNO with game times at 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively. Saturday the Trojans will face Centenary with a 10 a.m. start time and Morgan State with a 4:30 p.m. start time. All times are central.
