A 2001 graduate of Presbyterian College, Summers is beginning his first season as a graduate assistant with the Trojans.
Summers spent the 2003 season as a restricted earnings coach responsible for defensive backs at his alma mater after spending the 2002 season at his high school alma mater, Tift County (Ga.) High School, where he also coached defensive backs. He helped Tift County reach the AAAAA state playoffs for the first time since 1997, with the secondary allowing only 389 yards passing during the season.
A three-year starter at linebacker for Presbyterian, Summers was named a team captain during his senior year and was credited with 200 tackles during his career. Against West Georgia, he blocked a potential game-tying extra point attempt by the Braves to preserve Presbyterian's 41-40 win.
Summers, 24, earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Presbyterian in 2001.
