Assistant Coach Joni Crenshaw

Joni Crenshaw is beginning her third season as an assistant coach at Troy University following a standout career at the University of Alabama from 1997-2001.
The Meridian, Miss., native played four seasons for the Crimson Tide, finishing with 716 career points, 555 rebounds and 103 blocked shots. She started the 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 seasons at center, finishing third on the school's list for blocked shots in a career. She also served as team captain during the 2000-01 season.
While at Alabama, Crenshaw was also active in the community and on campus, frequently addressing large groups as part of the Crimson Tide's community service program.
In 2000, she was named to the Southeastern Conference's Good Works team.
She graduated with her bachelor's degree in Education from Alabama in spring 2002.
Crenshaw came to Alabama as a highly regarded recruit out of Meridian High School and was chosen as a 1996 High School All-America performer by Street & Smith and USA Today. Troy head coach Michael Murphy served as an assistant coach at Alabama during Crenshaw's career.
She led Meridian High School to a combined 67-7 record during her final two high school seasons, being named as Mississippi's Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior. During her senior year, MHS finished 32-2.
Crenshaw also won three state titles in track & field during her high school career and was selected as the school's Homecoming Queen in 1996.
She is the daughter of Jonas and Dr. Hargie Crenshaw and has an older brother, Jonas Crenshaw, Jr.
