Trojan Volleyball Team Drops Home Opener to Jacksonville

TROY, Ala. - Troy Volleyball suffered another setback of the 2004 season as Jacksonville University defeated the Trojans 3-0 Friday night. It was the ninth straight loss for the Trojans who had played every game away from home before tonight's match.

Jacksonville was led on offense by Candice Rose who finished with 10 kills on the night. She also add 10 digs defensively. Jacksonville was led defensively by libero Kelly Ryals who finished the match with 13 digs.

The Trojans were led on offense by freshman Claire Murphy, who finished the match with nine kills. Fellow freshman Bridget Reidy led the Trojans in digs with nine.

The Trojans will look to snap their current streak and notch a win in the A-Sun conference standings Saturday as the Hatters of Stetson travel to the Trojan Arena. Troy is 5-1 lifetime against Stetson and will look to continue its four game win streak against the Hatters. Game time is set for 5 p.m. and admission is free to the public.
