Jean McCarthy is in her first season as a graduate assistant with the Troy University volleyball program.
McCarthy was a four-year letter winner for the Trojans, beginning her career in 2004. The Fort Worth, Texas native missed most of the 2005 season due to injury before playing the last three seasons of her career (2006-08) under current head coach Sonny Kirkpatrick.
McCarthy played in 127 matches in her career at Troy, including 73 starts. She posted 739 career kills and 877 digs, putting her in 10th place on the career kills list and in ninth place on the career digs list. She posted her best season as a junior in 2007 when she recorded 344 kills and 343 digs.
McCarthy received a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice in 2008 from Troy. She worked as an animal control officer in Texas last year.
