Cinthya Roberto enters her second season with the Troy volleyball program in 2014. Roberto helped the Trojans to a semifinal appearance in the Sun Belt Championships in 2013, her first season with the Trojans.
Despite finishing eighth in the final conference standings, the Trojans upset tournament favorite and top seed WKU at Trojan Arena. Troy swept the Lady Toppers to advance to the semifinals for the second straight season.
Roberto came to Troy just two seasons removed from a successful playing career. The former All-American brings with her experience in the SEC and Big 12.
Roberto, a Brasilia, Brazil native, began her career with two All-American campaigns at Blinn College in Brenham, Texas, before transferring to Florida for her junior season and Texas A&M for her senior season in 2011.
In her four-year playing career, Roberto played in three postseason tournaments, including two NCAA Tournaments. As a freshman in 2008, Roberto was a part of a Blinn College team that went 33-2 and won the NJCAA National Championship.
In her two seasons at Blinn, Roberto accumulated 786 kills and averaged 3.79 kills/set, both of which rank among the powerhouse’s all-time top five.
In 2010, her junior season, Roberto played in 27 matches as a defensive specialist for a Florida squad that won the SEC with a perfect 20-0 record. The Gators posted a 29-2 overall record and were the No.1 seed in NCAA Tournament, advancing to the Sweet 16.
Roberto battled injuries and played in 12 matches for Texas A&M in 2011 as the Aggies posted a 23-8 overall record and advanced to the NCAA Second Round.
She earned her undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University in psychology and business in 2012.
In 2012, Roberto coached 16-year-olds at Wicked Good Volleyball Club in Bryan, Texas and at Xcel Volleyball Club in Tarkington, Texas. Roberto also served as the director of family programs for Habitat for Humanity before coming to Troy.
