Former All-Sun Belt second baseman Jesse Sherrill joined the Troy coaching staff as a graduate assistant prior to the 2025 season. Sherill assists with the development of Troy’s hitters and infielders.Â
In his first season coaching with the Trojans, Sherill assisted with a Troy offense that ranked second in the Sun Belt in on-base percentage (.403) and walks (323) and fourth in runs per game (7.0) and OPS (.837). Additionally, the Trojans set a school record for hit-by-pitch (122) and were the only team in college baseball to finish the regular season in the top 20 nationally for both walks and hit-by-pitch.Â
During his playing career, the Pensacola, Fla., native starred at Gordon State College (2019-20), Kennesaw State (2021) and Georgia Southern (2022-23). Sherrill was named to the All-Atlantic Sun Second Team in 2021 before landing on the All-Sun Belt First Team during both of his seasons at Georgia Southern. As a senior, Sherrill took home the Sun Belt batting title with a .409 batting average.Â
Sherrill graduated from Georgia Southern in 2024 with his bachelor’s in psychology.
