The Trojan Report: A Monthly Update from the Director of Athletics
Opening Message
The 2025-2026 athletic calendar year has officially come to a close, and we now have a chance to reflect on what took place throughout the year. As I personally look back on this year, I keep coming back to the word "Grateful." We, as a department, have so much to be grateful for when we see the outstanding accomplishments achieved by our student-athletes over the course of the last year.
Personally, I have so much to be grateful for with the opportunity to lead this incredible program. And collectively, our entire Athletics Department is incredibly grateful to you – our fans, alums and supporters – for the generous support you provide to all of our programs. We are all in this together, and throughout this year we truly proved that when we come together as #OneTROY, we are an unstoppable force.
I highly encourage you to read our Year in Review report so you can reflect on all the amazing accomplishments by our student-athletes. Our football, men's basketball, women's basketball and baseball teams all made incredible postseason appearances this year.
Our men's tennis program won an astonishing 17 matches in a row. Softball won more than 30 games for the fourth consecutive season. Track & Field saw numerous podium finishes and program records broken throughout the course of the year. And the list goes on and on with the impressive accolades honoring all of our student-athletes from each of our teams.
Spotlight Story – Student-Athlete Services Team
As successful as our student-athletes were in competition this past year, they were just as impressive in the classroom.
Our Athletic Department GPA for the spring semester was an outstanding 3.202 – one of our highest in program history. That only tells part of the story. 13 of our 15 teams posted a spring semester GPA over 3.0, and seven of eight women's teams posted a spring semester GPA over 3.5. Nearly 75 percent of our student-athletes had a 3.0 or higher GPA, and 57 of our student-athletes were named to the Chancellor's Honor List with a 4.0 semester GPA.
Truly incredible numbers, and all of our student-athletes put in an immense amount of time and effort into their studies to achieve this success.
While the work is put in by our student-athletes to achieve this success, they are guided along the way by our incredible Student-Athlete Services team. Led by Dr. Hilary Parkin, our Associate AD of Student-Athlete Services and Senior Woman Administrator, this team provides one-on-one guidance to our student-athletes. They focus on building relationships with these student-athletes to help them achieve their goals beyond their time as a student-athlete. In the evolving landscape of college athletics, this team helps us set our program apart from our peers.
So, thank you to Hilary, Mr. Bees, Natalie, Elijah, Tiffany, Maren and Samantha. The work they do goes unnoticed by most, but it is truly one of the most impactful interactions our student-athletes will have during their time here at Troy.
Looking Ahead – August Awakening
As we prepare to turn the page to August, our campus will awaken with the arrival of students back to campus. That also means our teams will soon carry the Trojan banner back into competition once again.
Coach Jake Wyman will take the field with our soccer program for the first time as a Trojan on August 7 in an exhibition match at Alabama State. They will then begin the regular season on August 13 at Middle Tennessee. Coach Josh Lauer and our volleyball program will play an exhibition at Mississippi State on August 22 before beginning the regular season in Trojan Arena on Friday, August 28, against Mercer.
August also means the annual Football Kickoff Party is quickly approaching. Make plans to join us on Saturday, August 22, in Trojan Arena for this fundraiser that will provide a night full of entertainment and mingling with your fellow Trojan fans. Tickets can be purchased at TroyTrojans.com/KickoffParty, and all proceeds will support our football program.
Conclusion
Today marks 44 days until Kickoff in the Wiregrass as your Troy Football team takes on Sam Houston on September 5 in The Vet. Lock in your season tickets now by visiting TroyTrojans.com/FBTickets and help bring the energy to The Vet with us this season.
Troy Football enters the 2026 season as the favorite to repeat as Sun Belt West Division Champions. We have a talented team that I know you will be excited to cheer on this season – make every effort to come join us throughout the season and be a part of the excitement!
Thank you again for all of your tremendous support throughout the 2025-2026 athletic seasons. It was an incredible year, but now it's time to turn the page to the 2026-2027 athletic year ahead. Let's continue to build on the momentum together. Continue to invest in our success and be part of our team. Let's go make 2026-2027 an incredible year together!
Go Trojans!
