Women’s Basketball Welcomes App State to Trojan Arena

TROY, Ala. – Following a 2-0 week on the road, the Troy women's basketball team returns to Trojan Arena briefly to face App State on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 6 p.m.
Winners of eight straight over the Mountaineers (10-11, 3-8 SBC), the Trojans (18-4, 9-2 SBC) look for their fourth straight win in Trojan Arena over the opposition.
Wednesday doubles as Girls and Women in Sports Day with a mid-week special of $2 general admission and $5 reserved tickets. There will be a special giveaway celebrating head coach Chanda Rigby's 500th career collegiate win via mini posters for the first 500 fans. At halftime, Troy Athletics will honor Rigby's 500th win, recognize all of Troy's women's sports, and hold the annual MGM Airplane Toss. Concessions will also feature a special pink lemonade bar.

2-0 Road Trip
The Trojans went 2-0 on the road with key wins over Marshall and Coastal Carolina. Troy overcame a 21-point deficit in the second quarter to win against Marshall and overcame an eight-point deficit early in the first quarter for an 11-point win at Coastal. The weekend put Troy in third for the SBC, one game behind Arkansas State. Ashley Baez dominated over the week with 19 points, 4.5 assists, 3.5 3-pointers and three steals. She scored all 18 of her points against Marshall in the second half to lead the comeback.
Troy's magic number is 69 as it sits 11-0, 6-0 SBC when allowing 69 or fewer points. The team is also a perfect 12-0, 6-0 SBC when holding opponents under 40 percent shooting and 7-0, 4-0 SBC on Wednesday games. Losing the opening tip plays into Troy's advantage as it's 7-0, 3-0 SBC when it starts the second half with the ball.
Rigby claimed her 500th win in the 21-point comeback over Marshall as she sits at 501-259 in her 24 seasons in college. She's also 273-161 at Troy as she sits one win away from tying Joyce Sorrell for the most wins in Troy women's basketball history. Rigby has nine 20-plus win seasons and will need her 10th to claim her 275th win and pass Sorrell.

App State sits 12th in the Sun Belt Conference standings after its loss to ULM on Friday. After starting 1-5 in league play, the Mountaineers rattled off two wins over Louisiana and South Alabama before falling to ULM. The Mountaineers' defense leads the league in points allowed at 58.9 per game.
