Troy Women's Tennis Closes Month with two-match Homestand
TROY, Ala. – Troy women's tennis continues to work towards conference play with its final matches in the month of February. The 4-3 Trojans are set to begin their week hosting Jacksonville State before preparing to take on the Mercer Bears. Heading into this week's action Troy is 2-1 in home matches on the season.
Troy dropped its match against Kennesaw State last Wednesday, 4-2. Doubles play saw the duo of Veena Nazar and Emilia Namyslo take down the Kennesaw State duo of Maria Ivankovic and Irene Serrano, 6-2. In singles play Maria Guirguis and Veena Nazar claimed victory in their respective matches.
Jacksonville State enters this week's action 4-3. Last Wednesday, the Gamecocks dropped their match against Alabama A&M, 4-0.
Mercer enters play 6-4. Saturday, the Bears went down against Arkansas State, 4-1. The arrival of Mercer brings coach Eric Hayes back to Troy – during his 11-year stint from 2002-2013, Hayes led the Trojans to an overall record of 100-68 while winning ASUN Coach of the Year in 2004.
