Women’s Basketball Celebrates Senior Day Against Southern Miss

TROY, Ala. – Riding a seven-game win streak in Sun Belt Conference play, the Troy women's basketball team prepares for its home finale against Southern Miss in Trojan Arena on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 1 p.m. and senior day for Zay Dyer, Emani Jenkins, Kamesha Moore, Fortuna Ngnawo and Rachel Leggett.
Three games remain for the Trojans (22-5, 13-2 SBC), who secured a top 5 seed with their win over South Alabama. They sit in first place with Georgia Southern and can secure a top-3 seed with a win on Saturday. For the Golden Eagles (14-13, 7-8 SBC), they sit in a three-way tie for the No. 6 seed with Old Dominion and Texas State.

Guaranteed a Top 5 Seed
The win over the Jaguars on Wednesday night saw Troy dominate the first half, 51-31, on 46.2 percent shooting from the field, 44.4 percent from deep and 87.5 percent from the line. Jenkins erupted for five threes and 17 points, while Ngnawo secured her 15th double-double on 10 points and 12 rebounds. The Trojans coasted in the second half, stopping a fourth-quarter surge for their 16th win by double-digits.
Saturday afternoon sees the final regular-season home game in Trojan Arena for seven seniors, five of whom will be recognized for senior day. Dyer joined the Trojans in 2023-24 and was a part of the Trojans first-ever postseason victory en route to the Fab 4 in 2024 and the runner-up finish in the WNIT Championship game in 2025. Ngnawo and Jenkins joined the Trojans one year later, and No. 12 currently leads the team in scoring with 15.2 points, while No. 3 is currently having the best 3-point season in Troy history with 88 makes. Leggett and Moore joined the Trojans this season and have boosted them into a tie for the No. 1 seed in the SBC.

Through 84 starts, Dyer ranks fourth all-time in career rebounds and first in D-I history with 945. She broke the single-season record last year with 395 and is on pace to break it again with 345 (currently ranks seventh all-time, fourth in D-I). The senior forward also ranks tied for sixth all-time, and third in D-I for rebounds per game (9.5), eighth all-time and sixth in D-I for blocks (87) and sixth in D-I for field goals made (462) in a career.
Scouting Southern Miss
Southern Miss has had a back-and-forth affair with league play after winning its last two against Texas State and Louisiana, sitting one game above .500 overall and one game below .500 in conference play. With three games remaining in the regular season, the Golden Eagles can move as far up as the No. 6 seed and fall to as low as the No. 11 seed.
