Women’s Basketball Homestand Sees South Alabama in Trojan Arena

TROY, Ala. – Troy women's basketball enters its final stretch of home games by inviting in-state rival South Alabama to Trojan Arena on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 6 p.m.
The Trojans (21-5, 12-2 SBC) have won six straight games in league play to remain in a tie for first in the Sun Belt Conference standings with Georgia Southern, while the Jaguars (9-16, 2-12 SBC) are fighting not to be the last seed after losing eight straight.

Sweep the Bayou Teams
Troy went 4-0 against the Bayou teams of Louisiana and ULM with a pair of victories in Trojan Arena last week. First, Troy dominated ULM, 71-55, in head coach Chanda Rigby's 275th win to pass Joyce Sorrell for the most by a Troy women's basketball coach. Zay Dyer also broke the Troy D-I single-game record with 25 rebounds in the victory. Then, Troy survived a ULM comeback, 82-80, to go 4-0 against Louisiana teams in the league.
The pair of victories secured Rigby's 10th season with 20-plus wins at Troy, combining for a 67-31 record over the last three seasons with 20-plus wins in each. This season, Rigby's coached the Trojans to lead the league in assists (15.9), rebound margin (+13.1), defensive rebounds (31.7), offensive rebounds (18.5), total rebounds (50.3), scoring margin (+14.1) and scoring (83.4). She also coaches the SBC-leader in double-doubles (18), rebounds (334), defensive rebounds per game (8.2), offensive rebounds (4.7) and rebounds per game (12.8) via Dyer.
The in-state rivalry dates back to Troy's inaugural season in 1975-76, where the teams split the series.
