Troy Resumes Conference Play at Texas State

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Troy men's basketball resumes Sun Belt action Wednesday night against Texas State. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+ and the Troy Sports Media Network.
Troy (16-8, 9-3 SBC) is coming off an impressive home win Saturday, defeating Akron 79–69 in the second round of the MAC-SBC Challenge. The Zips entered the game ranked 52nd on KenPom, marking Troy's second-highest ranked win of the season. The Trojans previously defeated then-No. 29 San Diego State on Nov. 18.
Akron scored the game's first nine points, but Troy grabbed its first lead with 4:34 remaining in the first half. The Trojans pulled away behind hot shooting, finishing 51.9% (14-for-27) from 3-point range.
Cooper Campbell led the way with 25 points, including 19 in the second half. Campbell went 5-for-9 from beyond the arc and added five assists without committing a turnover.
Texas State (15-11, 7-6 SBC) has won four straight and six consecutive games inside Strahan Arena. The Bobcats defeated Western Michigan on Saturday, 77-61.
Troy is 10-12 all-time against Texas State.

Cooper Campbell's stat line on Saturday marked the 42nd time in college basketball this season that a player recorded at least 25 points and five assists without committing a turnover. It was just the second such performance by a Sun Belt player this year.

Victor Valdes is fourth in the Sun Belt in free throws made (122) and fourth in free throws attempted (162). Troy's Division I record for free throws made in a season is 142, set by Myles Rigsby last year.

Texas State enters Wednesday's game on a four-game winning streak after taking down Western Michigan, 77-61 on Saturday. The Bobcats are 13-1 at home this season and have won six consecutive games inside Strahan Arena. DJ Hall leads Texas State, scoring 14.2 points per game. Mark Drone is not far behind with 13.7 points per contest. Texas State is first in the Sun Belt and 34th in the nation in steals per game, averaging 8.8.

- Scott Cross is in his seventh season at the helm of the Trojans, amassing a 120-95 record during his time at Troy. Over the last four seasons, Troy has won 20-plus games every year, which includes 10-plus Sun Belt wins each season.
- Wednesday marks the second meeting between Troy and Texas State this season. The Trojans ran past the Bobcats in Trojan Arena, 100-80 on New Year's Eve. Troy shot 61.4% (35-for-57) from the field and was paced by 22 points, six rebounds, and three blocks from Thomas Dowd.
- Cooper Campbell boasts the best assist-to-turnover ratio in the Sun Belt at 3.0, which also ranks 32nd nationally. Additionally, Campbell ranks second in the league in assists per game at 4.8.
