TROY, Ala. – Troy senior Brantley Scott has been named to the PING All-Southeast Region Team, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Saturday afternoon. He will now advance to the All-America ballot.
An All-Sun Belt First Team selection and No. 39 ranked player in the country, Scott played a critical role in Troy's ascension in the national rankings in the spring to push the Trojans towards its at-large berth in the NCAA Regionals and eventually a run to the NCAA Championships.
Scott was named to the first team in the Sun Belt for the second time in his career, while the All-SBC honor was his third overall. Scott led Troy from a No. 79 ranking entering the spring (outside of the NCAA bubble) to its spot inside the number thanks to an impressive spring season.
Entering the NCAA Championship, he has a -0.76 score vs. par over his 21 rounds, with 12 finding a red number and seven finishing in the 60s. After shooting 8-over in his second round back from injury, Scott has played his following 19 rounds within two strokes of par, with all 12 of his under-par rounds coming during that stretch.
Scott was Troy's top bag in four of the final six tournaments of the year, including a victory at the Daytona Beach Intercollegiate, a second-place finish at the Seminole Intercollegiate and a tie for third at the Sun Belt Championship.
