Men’s Golf Tied for Final Match Play Position Following Two Rounds of SBC Championship

MADISON, Miss. – No. 48 Troy is in a dogfight at the Sun Belt Men's Golf Championship following Tuesday's second round, as the Trojans are tied with Louisiana at 1-over par for the fourth and final spot in match play.

Troy and Louisiana shot 3-over on Tuesday after entering the round tied for fourth following rounds of 2-under on Monday. The Trojans and Cajuns are five shots back of Georgia Southern for third after the Eagles made a move with a 4-under on Tuesday, while Texas State is a shot back in sixth place after posting the low round of the day with a 7-under.

Brantley Scott and Jake Springer shot even to lead the Trojans in the second round, as Scott carded three birdies and three bogeys, while Springer had a bogey on the 14^th and a birdie on the 15^th.

Troy has played the cleanest rounds of golf in the field, leading the way with 131 pars while posting the fewest over-par holes with just 27 bogeys or worse. The Trojans have struggled in the birdie department, with just 22 as a team, while Arkansas State leads with 34.

The Red Wolves shot even on the day and hold the clubhouse lead at 10-under, followed by Coastal Carolina at 6-under and Georgia Southern at 4-under. Three players are tied for the individual lead at 5-under just two shots ahead of Scott, who is tied for fourth place, while Springer is tied for 11^that 1-under.

Nick Fowlkes and Pablo Gracia are tied for 32^nd place at 3-over after rounds of 73 and 75, respectively, on Tuesday. Fowlkes carded three birdies and shot 35 on the front nine (Troy's back after starting on No. 10), while Gracia made the turn 1-under before shooting a 40 on the back.

Lee Poppell shaved a stroke off his opening round card with a pair of birdies en route to a 74 in the second round to move up into a tie for 43^rd place.

Troy will play with Louisiana and Texas State in Wednesday's third and final round of stroke play. The top four teams following the final 18 holes will advance to match play on Thursday.
