No. 18 Troy Run-Rules Florida A&M at Riddle-Pace Field

TROY, Ala. - No. 18 Troy handled Florida A&M 13-3 at Riddle-Pace Field, picking up a run-rule victory in seven innings.
Senior centerfielder Steven Meier was the star of the show for the Trojans, reaching in all six of his plate appearances. Meier went 2-for-2 with four RBIs, which included a three-run home run in the second inning while adding two walks and two HBPs. Meier's second HBP of the game came with the bases loaded in the seventh inning, ending the game due to the ten-run mercy rule.
The Troy offense tallied ten hits and recorded their fifth double-digit walk game of the season with 12 free passes. Second baseman Sean Darnell came through with three RBIs, going 2-for-3 with a sacrifice fly in the first inning, a bases-loaded walk in the third inning, and an RBI double in the fifth inning. Third baseman Jimmy Janicki had a productive day as well, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs, including a two-run double in the fourth inning.
On the mound, the trio of Drew Nelson, Dylan King and Jacob Roettgen held the Rattlers to three runs and a season-best four hits on the day. King earned his first win of the season, pitching 2.0 innings with a career-high five strikeouts, holding FAMU to one run on one hit and one walk. Roettgen pitched the final 2.1 innings, surrendering just one hit.
The No. 18 ranked Trojans moved to 22-8 on the season ahead of their seven-game road trip to Virginia, where they'll play a three-game series at Old Dominion, a midweek matchup at Virginia Tech and a three-game series at James Madison.
