CONWAY, S.C. – The Troy women's tennis team got back in the win column on Friday afternoon, as it took down Coastal Carolina 4-2 at the Stevens Tennis Complex.

Troy (8-7, 3-3 SBC) got off to a slow start but was able to win four single matches to come away with the crucial conference victory. Coastal Carolina (10-6, 4-2 SBC) took the lead early thanks to a pair of wins during doubles to secure the 1-0 lead but couldn't keep the Trojans down for long.

The Chanticleers extended their lead to 2-0 after a win in the top spot, however they would not add to their score for the rest of the match. Maria Guirguis won 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 2 spot to cut the Troy deficit in half. Veena Nazar tied things up thanks to a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 6.

Valeriia Avdeeva gave Troy its first lead of the match on court 3, as she recorded a 7-5, 6-4 victory. Avdeeva has now won 12 matches in a row and is 13-1 this spring. The match was clinched in the No. 4 spot, as Leena Metwally put together an impressive come-from-behind 6-7 (3), 6-2, 6-4 win. The match-clinching win was her third victory in a row and she is 6-3 in the last 10 matches.

The final match of the day went unfinished going into the third set.
