No. 17 Troy Overcomes Seven-Run Deficit to Defeat Florida A&M

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - No. 17 Troy surged back from down 7-0, hitting four home runs to come back and defeat Florida A&M 10-8 at Moore-Kittles Field.
The seven-run deficit is tied for the largest known comeback in Troy history, and it was the longball that got the Trojans back into the game after allowing six runs in the first and one more in the second.
Gavin Schrader hit a three-run moonshot to get the Trojans on the board in the third inning, his fourth homer of the season. After a pair of quiet innings, the Sun Belt RBI leader Brooks Bryan clobbered a two-shot for his seventh homer of the season, bringing his season RBI total to 39.
FAMU got a run back in the bottom of the sixth on a solo shot by second baseman William Brown, but Dillon Kuehl led off the seventh with the first home run of his career to get the Trojans back on track. Troy tacked on another run in the frame on a Steven Meier sacrifice fly after Mike Bello took third base on an errant pickoff attempt at first base.
The Trojans evened up the ballgame in the eighth as Blake Cavill scored from second on an errant double play attempt by the Rattlers. Kuehl made them pay, showcasing his clutch gene with his second home run of the ballgame to put the Trojans up 10-8. It was Kuehl's second go-ahead hit in the past week, as he hit a two-run single to gave Troy a 4-3 lead in the sixth inning over No. 16 Coastal Carolina in Saturday's 9-8 victory.
The Trojans comeback couldn't be complete without a dominant showing from the bullpen. Starter Jacob Roettgen left the ballgame before recording an out and was charged with six runs and three earned runs, but Troy pieced together 9.0 innings of relief with just two earned runs.
Adam Falinski pitched two innings of one-run ball with a pair of strikeouts. Dylan King held the Rattlers hitless in the third and fourth innings before George Welch worked a scoreless fifth. Kelly Crumpton allowed a solo homer in the sixth but also racked up two strikeouts, while Jay Dill shut the Rattlers down in the final three innings with five strikeouts, one walk and one hit while earning the win.
The Trojans move to 19-7 on the season and will return to Sun Belt action this weekend for a three-game series with Marshall at Riddle-Pace Field.
