Women’s Tennis Sweeps Alabama A&M on Saturday

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team closed out its non-conference slate with a dominant 4-0 win over Alabama A&M on Saturday afternoon.

Troy (5-4) will enter its Sun Belt schedule on a two-match winning streak and having won four of its last five matches. On Saturday, the Trojans cruised to its second 4-0 win of the season.

In doubles, Valeriia Avdeeva and Maria Guirguis cruised to a 6-0 win in the top doubles spot to move to 5-1 as a paring this spring. The Trojans clinched the 1-0 lead with a 6-4 win on court 2 from Veena Nazar and Emilia Namyslo. The final match went unfinished.

Troy kept its strong play rolling in singles, as Metwally recorded a 6-2, 6-2 win in the No. 3 spot to extend the lead to 2-0. She is 4-2 this season and was one her last three matches. Avdeeva got Troy within one point of the match victory with a 6-1, 6-4 win in the No. 3 spot. Avdeeva has won six matches in a row and has a team-best 7-1 record.

Gabrielle Leslie clinched the match victory for the Trojans with a 6-1, 6-3 win in the top spot. Leslie went 2-0 in the top singles flight this week and is 3-5 on the spring.

The remaining matches went unfinished.
