TROY, Ala. - Troy's Brooks Bryan and Blake Cavill were named to Perfect Game's Preseason Sun Belt All-Conference Team on Tuesday. Â
Bryan, a junior catcher from Opelika, Ala., got the nod at designated hitter after a monster season at the plate last year. Bryan smashed Troy's RBI record with 85 during the 2024Â campaign, while launching 18 home runs with a .279 batting average and .970 OPS. Â
Bryan is widely considered as one of the top prospects for the 2025 MLB Draft, ranking No. 38 in D1Baseball's 2025 MLB Draft College Prospects. Over the summer, Bryan competed alongside the best players in the country on the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, helping them to a 5-game sweep of Chinese Taipei.
Cavill, a senior from Sydney, Australia, was selected as the Sun Belt's top first baseman headed into the 2025 season. One of the top incoming transfers in the conference, Cavill hit .313 with a .970 OPS at Western Kentucky last season while hitting eight home runs and tallying 47 RBIs. Â
The 6'1" first baseman is seemingly a perfect fit for a Troy offense that ranked third nationally in walks (382), as Cavill comes in having drawn 43 walks to just 31 strikeouts last season. Â
Additionally, Cavill represented Australia at the U-23 Baseball World Cup this fall, where he led his team with an .893 OPS to go with a .286 batting average. Â
Both Bryan and Cavill were also featured in D1Baseball's Preseason Position Rankings, with Bryan ranking as the No. 6 catcher in the nation and Cavill as the No. 18 first baseman.Â
The Trojans enter the 2025 season ranked No. 25 by D1Baseball and are set to host Bellarmine on opening weekend Feb. 14-16. Tickets are on sale now at TroyTrojans.com/Tickets. Â
