Troy Travels to Louisiana on Wednesday Night

TROY, Ala. – Troy's four-game road trip continues on Wednesday night, as the Trojans head to Lafayette, La., for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff against Louisiana in the Cajundome.
Troy (15-9, 8-4 SBC) looks to snap its two-game skid and hold its position near the top of the Sun Belt standings with six games left in the regular season. Louisiana (8-17, 5-7 SBC) is coming off a 66-64 win over Northern Illinois in the MAC-SBC Challenge on Saturday.

The Trojans are coming off a pair of close losses to open their road trip last week, falling to James Madison on Wednesday by three points and to Miami (OH) on Saturday by seven. Troy played well throughout the games but was unable to come out on top.
Troy continues to be led by Tayton Conerway and his impressive two-way play this season. He was Troy's leading scorer in both games, scoring 18 points against JMU and 20 against Miami. He's leading the team this season at 13.3 points.
In addition to his ability to score the basketball, Conerway is also a dynamic passer who leads the Trojans in assists this season with 116. That total is good for third in the conference and 56th in the country. On defense, Conerway is one of the best thiefs in the country, as his 72 steals leads the SBC and is third in the nation.
Conerway has been a key reason why Troy is among the country's best in forcing turnovers this season. Troy's 14.25 turnovers forced per game leads the Sun Belt and is top 50 in DI.
Thomas Dowd is also in the midst of some strong play for Troy this year. On Saturday, he scored 15 points and had a team-high eight rebounds. Dowd leads the team in rebounds per game at 6.1 and has been instrumental in helping Troy grab the 16th most offensive rebounds per game in the country at 13.9. He is one of three Trojans (Conerway and Jackson Fields) to have started all 24 games this season. The sophomore forward is also second on the Trojans in made threes with 30.
As the season reaches the final six games of conference play, Troy sits in a five-way tie for second place and just one game back of Arkansas State. The Trojans will take on the Red Wolves on Saturday night on ESPN2. With two more conference wins, Troy will be the only team in the SBC with 10 or more conference wins in each of the last four years.
Scouting Louisiana
The Ragin' Cajuns started the season losing eight of its first 10 games but have started to settle in since the beginning of conference play. The Ragin' Cajuns are currently under the director of interim head coach Derrick Zimmerman. Mostapha El Moutaouakkil is leading the way for Louisiana with 13.2 points. Kentrell Garnett is also in double-digits at 10.6 points.
Louisiana leads the all-time series 22-9, but the Trojans have won the last three matchups. It's the longest winning streak for Troy against Louisiana. The Trojans won the last matchup 87-73 on Feb. 28, 2024, in Lafayette.

• Scott Cross is in his sixth season at the helm for Troy men's basketball, and his 18th as a Division I men's basketball head coach. While at Troy he has put together a 95-95 record, which includes three straight seasons of 20 or more wins. In each of those three seasons, he has also led the Trojans to 10 or more conference wins.
• Troy dropped the second game of the MAC-SBC Challenge on Saturday against Miami (OH) in Oxford, Ohio.
• Troy fell to James Madison, 64-61, in Harrisonburg on Wednesday night to open its four game road trip. Troy got strong play from Tayton Conerway, who had 18 points on 8-13 shooting. The Trojans led with under 90 seconds left to play but couldn't close the deal.
• Troy demolished ULM 87-50 to close out its perfect four-game homestand. The Trojans were led by a career-high 17 points from Marcus Rigsby Jr., and led by as much as 46 in the second half.
• Thanks to for four players scoring in double-figures, Troy took down Georgia Southern 81-74 in Trojan Arena.
