Women’s Golf 12th at Pirate Collegiate Classic

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Victoria Stutts shot a 1-under 71 in the second round to lead the Troy women's golf team, which is in 12th place following Monday's opening two rounds of the Pirate Collegiate Classic, hosted by East Carolina at the Greenville Country Club.
Troy ranked fourth in the field, shooting 15-under as a team on the par-5 holes and carded the eighth-most birdies on the opening day with 28. However, the Trojans shot 28-over as a team and find themselves 14 shots out of the top five, while East Carolina holds a 12-shot lead over Louisville and High Point thanks to a 10-under 62 by Lisa Forss in the second round.
Stutts carded three birdies on her second trip through the course to bag her first under-par round of the season; this came after a rocky morning where she shot 79 with an eagle and a birdie.
She is tied with teammate Manya Saini for 37th place at 6-over after Saini carded rounds of 74 and 76, with a team-leading seven birdies, including five in the opening round. Katelynn Altese is a shot back in a tie for 45thplace after bagging four birdies on the day.
Constanza Quiroga carded four birdies among her first nine holes of the day and finished with seven to tie Saini for the team lead. She finished the day 8-over, good for a tie for 60th place, while Laura Fangmeyer is in 76th place at 15-over with six total birdies on her card.
Troy will play Tuesday's final round along with Radford and West Georgia, beginning at 8:15 a.m. (CT) on the 10th tee.
