Scouting Louisiana
30th meeting: Troy leads, 17-12
Louisiana enters the week with a 10-6 overall record and a 2-4 mark in SBC play. Cailin Demps lead the Ragin' Cajuns with 209 kills this season, while hitting an impressive .311 clip. Ryleigh Garis and Nene Hawkins assume the setting duties, with 352 and 235 assists on the year, respectively. As a team, Louisiana ranks second in the Sun Belt in hitting percentage at .252.
Notables
- Freshman Brooke Forkum made her first career start on Saturday against Georgia Southern. She debuted on Sept. 26 at South Alabama and has since become a key part of the Trojan attack. Forkum ranks second on the team in kills (52) during that span while hitting .231, the highest percentage among players with at least five kills.
- Amiah Butler has recorded double-digit kills in all 14 matches this season, surpassing 20 kills three times. She is currently on pace to finish the year with 401 kills, which would be a career high. Butler's 4.42 kills-per-set average would not only mark a personal best but also tie for the third-highest single-season mark in Troy history.
- Troy is 4-0 in Lafayette under head coach Josh Lauer. The Trojans last defeated the Ragin' Cajuns in the Bayou State in 2023, sweeping back-to-back matches.
- Troy head coach Josh Lauer is in his ninth season at the helm, holding a career record of 123-124. He is the second-longest tenured Division I head coach in Troy program history, trailing only Sonny Kirkpatrick, who guided the Trojans for 11 seasons (2006-16).
