TROY, Ala. – Troy junior quarterback Tucker Kilcrease has been named the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback of the Week following his performance against Texas State this past weekend; Kilcrease is sharing the honor with Washington's Demond Williams Jr.
Â
Kilcrease completed 30-of-39 passes for 415 yards and five touchdowns as he helped Troy rally from deficits of 21-0 and 28-7 to defeat the Bobcats, 48-41, in overtime. The Brantley, Ala., native's five touchdowns tied for the second-most in program history (most by a player with 400-plus passing yards), while his passing total was the seventh most in a game by a Troy quarterback.
Â
Since the start of the fourth quarter at Buffalo (last nine quarters), Kilcrease has completed 52-of-76 passes for 709 yards and eight touchdowns, while rushing for 143 yards and two touchdowns.
Â
Additionally, his 10 passes of 20-plus yards in October are tied for the third most in the country, while his five passes of 30-plus yards are tied for the fourth most. Kilcrease leads the Sun Belt with just three turnover worthy plays (TWP) and a 1.9 TWP percentage; a TWP is a pass that has a high percentage chance to be intercepted or a poor job of taking care of the ball and fumbling.
Â
Kilcrease also ranks second in the Sun Belt with an 8.2 big time throw (BTT) percentage; BTT - a pass with excellent ball location and timing, generally thrown further down the field and/or into a tighter window. During Troy's three game winning streak, Kilcrease is third in touchdowns (7) and yards per attempt (10.2) and second in BTT percentage among Group of Six quarterbacks.
