Men’s Basketball Welcomes Georgia Southern to Trojan Arena

TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's basketball team is in the midst of another strong season at home and looks to extend its two-game winning streak on Thursday night as it welcomes Georgia Southern to Trojan Arena.
Troy (13-7, 6-3) is coming off a pair of crucial home victories over South Alabama and Southern Miss last week, while Georgia Southern (11-10, 4-5 SBC) loss to Marshall at home on Saturday.

The Trojans got strong showings in Monday night's win from Tayton Conerway (17 points) and Thomas Dowd (15 points, nine rebounds) to help push Troy to second in the Sun Belt standings, just one game back of Arkansas State.
Since Sun Belt play got underway at the end of December, Conerway is fourth in the conference in scoring at 17.3 points. He's doing so in an efficient fashion, shooting 52 percent from the field, while going 42.3 percent from distance. He's also second in conference play in assists with 6.2 per game, while leading 3.8 steals per game.
On the season, Conerway is third in the country in steals (65) and third in steals per game (3.3). He is also second overall in the conference with 100 assists, a mark that is 53rd in the country.
Thanks to strong play from Dowd and Jackson Fields this season, Troy is one of the better rebounding teams in the country. The Trojans are 14th nationally in offensive rebounds per game at 14.1, which is second in the Sun Belt. Troy's rebounding margin of +6.3 leads the conference and is 14th among D-I programs.
Troy has also been strong in the blocking department this season, averaging 4.5 blocks per game to rank 55th in the country. Myles Rigsby has a team-high 15 blocks, while Jerrell Bellamy had 14 and Randarius Jones has 10.
The Trojan's defense has been an area of strength this year, allowing 65.6 points which is third in the Sun Belt and 39th in the country. Troy is 5-1 in Sun Belt play when limiting its opponent to under 70 points, and 4-0 when under 60 points. Troy's opponents are shooting 41.2 percent from the field this year.
Scouting Georgia Southern
This will be the Eagles first trip to Troy since February of 2021. Georgia Southern split its previous two games, beating Coastal Carolina but falling to Marshall. Adante' Holiman is leading the charge with a team-high 16.7 points. Georgia Southern is one of the deeper teams in the country, ranking 17th in bench points per game.
Georgia Southern leads the all-time series 16-12. Troy has won the last two meetings, including a 84-63 victory in Statesboro last season.

• Scott Cross is in his sixth season at the helm for Troy men's basketball, and his 18th as a Division I men's basketball head coach. While at Troy he has put together an 93-83 record, which includes three straight seasons of 20 or more wins. In each of those three seasons, he has also led the Trojans to 10 or more conference wins.
• Troy defeated in-state rival South Alabama on Saturday night in front of the third largest crowd in program history (5,041). It was Troy's fourth consecutive win over South Alabama at home.
• Tayton Conerway has scored in double-digits in all nine conference games this year, and has six games of 15-plus points.
• Conerway's career-high 32 points against Arkansas State was the first time a Trojan has scored 30-plus points since 2019.
• Against ULM on Jan. 15, Conerway had the first double-double of his career with 10 points and a career-high 12 assists.
