Women’s Golf Heads to New Orleans for Green Wave Invitational

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's golf team hits the links for the second time this fall at the Green Wave Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at TPC of Louisiana in New Orleans.

Troy is coming off a 10^th place finish at the one-day, 36-hole Clemson Invitational in its fall opener two weeks ago. Laura Fangmeyer led the Trojans, finishing in a tie for 22^nd place at 3-over par, while Brinson Hall had her best performance in a Troy uniform, tying for 31^st place at 7-over.

"We got some good experience at Clemson, and it was a good opportunity to get our feet wet in a tournament," head coach Randy Keck said. "It let our younger players see what college golf is all about and helped us with our team chemistry, which is improving well."

Fangmeyer returns to the lineup for the Green Wave Invitational, along with Manya Saini and Katelynn Altese, who finished 67^th and tied for 85, respectively, in the opener. Alyssa Mercado, who led Troy across the board last season in stroke average (74.84), score vs. par (2.84), rounds towards team card (96.8%) and rounds under par (6), makes her 2024 debut after missing the opener due to attending LPGA Qualifying School.

In addition to Mercado, Victoria Stutts will make her season debut after transferring to Troy this offseason after beginning her career at North Carolina A&T, where she posted a 77.5 scoring average and won the Calvin Peete NAACP.

"The course is going to be a good one for us," Keck said. "We've got a few players who have played it before, and it's a big hitters course, and we've got some long drivers. Iron play will be at a premium because you're going to have to hit some quality shots into the green, which suits us well."

Teams will play a shotgun start each day beginning at 8 a.m.
