Laura Fangmeyer Named Sun Belt Women’s Golfer of the Week

TROY, Ala. – Coming off a second-place performance at the Green Wave Invitational, Troy's Laura Fangmeyer has been named the Sun Belt Conference Women's Golfer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.

Fangmeyer, Troy's first women's golfer of the week since Alyssa Mercado in the spring of 2022, fired the fifth-lowest round in program history, with a 5-under 67 in the final round on Tuesday to propel herself to a second place finish and Troy to a third place finish.

She carded five birdies and no bogeys in her final round on Tuesday, including four birdies on the back nine, where she shot 4-under. The Trojan junior played the final nine holes to a 7-under mark for the week as she finished 2-under for the tournament.

Fangmeyer and the Trojans will take a couple of weeks off before heading to Greenville, N.C., and the Ironwood Golf and Country Club for the Pirate Collegiate Classic hosted by East Carolina.
