Cross Country Prepares for Southern Showcase
9/12/2024 10:00:00 AM | Cross Country
TROY, Ala. – Troy cross country gears up for its second meet of the season on Friday, Sept. 13 with the running of the Southern Showcase, looking to use its momentum from top-five finishes on both sides.
"First, we are thinking about the people on the path of this potential hurricane in the Gulf and praying it will dissipate with minimal impact," head coach Brian Cunningham said. "As far as the meet goes, it should be an excellent early season test for us. Many of our returners have experience on the course, so we can take advantage of a known entity. Mostly, this is going to be fun—this is the largest Southern Showcase field since I've been at Troy. With more teams comes more excitement. Can't wait to get this one going."
The men start the meet at John Hunt XC Running Park at 9 a.m. with the 8k against 52 teams, followed by the women's side (5k) at 10 a.m., who face 56 opponents.
