TROY, Ala. – Troy alumni Martin Bouldo, who graduated with a double major in physics and chemistry and is a five-year letterwinner for men's track & field, will be honored tonight at the Sun Belt Honors Banquet. Bouldo will receive the Sun Belt Conference Overall Male Postgraduate Award in a virtual setting.
"Martin is a very deserving recipient of this award," director of track & field / cross country Marc Davis said. "He has overcome so much and has been a success in everything he's done. He seems to be thriving now in med school, which shows his determination to be the best at what he does. Congrats to you, Martin."
Bouldo is currently pursuing his medical degree at NYU with hopes of becoming a doctor who specializes in cancer medicine. After overcoming cancer twice, the sprinter earned the 2023-24 Trojan Tribute Trojan Way Leadership Award with his return to the track for the most recent season.
From Wurzburg, Germany, Bouldo competed in the 400m, 600m, 800m, 4x400m and 4x800m, snagging three golds in his tenure. He opened his Trojan career back in the 2020 Jaguar Opener, immediately making an impact with a 1:57.53 time in the 800m for first place. He returned to the track in 2023-24 and found his way back to the top twice at the South Alabama Invitational with wins in the 800m and 4x400m.
In 15 total meets he competed in, Bouldo accumulated 18 top-10 finishes with five top-five and four podiums. He finished his career at Troy in the Sun Belt Outdoor Track & Field Championships with an 11th-place finish in the 800m preliminaries before crossing the line eighth in the 4x400m. The Niceville High School graduate peaked in his primary event (800m) at the Crimson Tide Invitational (April 5, 2023) with a personal-best 1:53.34 for 10th.
The scholarships are awarded to selected student-athletes with stated intentions to pursue a graduate degree after completing their undergraduate requirements. They are sent directly to the graduate school of each recipient's choice. The recipients were selected by the Sun Belt Postgraduate Scholarship Committee, which is comprised of Faculty Athletic Representatives from across the conference.
To be eligible for Sun Belt Conference Postgraduate Scholarships, nominees must have exhausted eligibility, been declared or designated a varsity letter winner in a Sun Belt-sanctioned sport at a member institution for at least two seasons, and achieved a minimum undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 3.3 (on a 4.0 scale).
