Â
TROY, Ala. – Troy Athletics, in partnership with longtime supporter Horn Beverage and Folklore Brewing and Meadery, are proud to announce Troy's first officially licensed craft beer for Trojan fans to enjoy this fall during football season. Trojan Ale, a session blonde ale, will officially debut to the public at Troy Football's season opener against Nevada on Aug. 31 in The Vet.Â
Â
Trojan fans can enjoy this 5.2% ABV beverage in 12-ounce cans at The Vet throughout the season. Following the season opener, Trojan Ale will be available in stores and restaurants throughout the Wiregrass region so fans can continue to show their Trojan Pride while supporting a local craft brewer. All sales of Troy's officially licensed beer will directly benefit Troy University and Troy Athletics.
Â
"We are incredibly excited to launch the first officially licensed Troy beer with the debut of Trojan Ale," Athletics Director Brent Jones said. "I am extremely grateful for the support of Jim and Donna Horn and the entire team with Horn Beverage for helping bring this exciting opportunity to fruition. This creative partnership with Horn Beverage and Folklore has allowed us to provide another opportunity for our fans to show their Trojan Pride while also supporting local businesses."
Â
Established in 2013, Folklore is Dothan's oldest brewery currently in operation. Producing a variety of beers, meads and seltzers, they have quickly become one of the most popular craft breweries in the Wiregrass and are proud partners with Horn Beverage.Â
Â
Horn Beverage Company, incorporated in 1982, is a wholesale beer distributor that is a family-owned and operated business. The company is one of the City of Troy's largest employers and a strong supporter of charitable and economic development efforts throughout the region. Thanks to the longstanding partnership with Donna Horn and the Horn Beverage team, the vision for an officially licensed beer for Troy University was brought to life.
Â
"Horn Beverage is proud to partner with Troy University and Folklore to bring Trojan Ale to our market," Horn Beverages' Donna Horn said. "I want to especially thank Danny Hughes with Horn Beverage for taking the lead on this project. Horn Beverage is proud of our relationship with Troy Athletics, which dates to the creation of the Troy Football Radio Network. As an alumnus of Troy University, it is always exciting for me to be able to participate in their success and growth."
Â
Trojan fans will have an opportunity to enjoy a second officially licensed beer from the team at Folklore later this winter. As part of the partnership with Horn Beverage and Folklore, the second officially licensed beer for Troy University will debut around the beginning of basketball season.Â
