TROY, Ala. - Troy outfielder Kole Myers heard his name called on the second day of the 2024 MLB Draft, getting selected in the ninth round by the Los Angeles Dodgers with the 280th overall pick Monday afternoon.Â
Myers is the 64th MLB Draft pick in Troy history and the third draft pick under head coach Skylar Meade.Â
"Two years ago when Kole set foot on our campus, he helped us create an identity as a program," Meade said. "He set the tone for us nearly winning 80 games the last two years as one of the most dynamic players to ever play at Troy. He is a super kid from an awesome family, and is going to an elite organization where talents can prevail. We are over the top happy for Kole and can't wait to see him in professional baseball."Â
The senior from Lafayette, La., started 120 games for the Trojans over the past two seasons after a productive junior college career at LSU Eunice, and was named to the All-Sun Belt Second Team in 2024. Â
During his standout senior campaign Myers showed an advanced approach at the plate with 62 walks to rank third nationally and was a pest on the basepaths swiping a Sun Belt-leading 32 bases. He finishes his Troy career tenth in team history with 55 stolen bases. Â
While posting a .323/.487/.570 slash line along with elite defense in centerfield, Myers racked up 4.42 wins above replacement which ranked seventh nationally among centerfielders.Â
A Troy player has been selected in 16 of the last 21 MLB Drafts with 28 overall selections since 2004.
