Troy Welcomes Mercer for Midweek Match-up

TROY, Ala – Troy softball welcomes the Mercer Bears for a midweek match-up on Wednesday, April 10 at 3 p.m. at the Troy Softball Complex.
Troy (27-15, 7-5 SBC) is back home after being on the road last week against ACC foe Georgia Tech and Texas State. The Trojans dropped the series to No. 23 Texas State, but won an extra inning thriller on Sunday.
In Texas, the Trojans had a rough go of it in games one and two before bouncing back in game three. Audra Thompson headlined game three with a double that scored two runs and then a go-ahead solo home run in the top of the 12th inning to give Troy the lead once and for all.
Two-way Libby Baker picked up win number 11 of the season after pitching 12 innings in the victory over the Bobcats. Baker kept Texas State's high scoring offense to just three runs.
Troy faced off against Mercer earlier this year in the Mercer Bear Tournament, where it won in an extra-inning showdown, 3-1. Jade Sinness shined from the plate when facing the Bears going 3-for-4, while Baker shut down the Mercer offense from the circle.
Mercer is second in the SOCON just behind Chattanooga – who Troy also played earlier this season. The Bears are headlined by duo Alyssa Woods and Tori Hedgecock from the dish with .366 and .364 clips respectively. Woods and Hedgecock lead the club with 37 hits apiece, with a combined 58 RBIs. Hedgecock also leads the club in home runs with 17 on the season.
From the circle Mercer is led by Grace Taylor, with a 3.55 ERA and 1.30 WHIP, she has hurled seven complete games on 86.2 innings of work.
